I reached the venue by 9:15AM and the keynote by Oracle was about to start. I liked the venue for its ambiance and environment.
My first session, Google App Engine for Java Developers started at 10:40 and I had the hall full in few minutes. The audience were interactive and came with a good understanding of the core concepts. I managed to deliver the session in the stipulated 55 min. slot. I showed an end to end demo of a simple Twitter like application on GAE. I finally deployed this application on Google App Engine. Though it was challenging to cover all the concepts in the limited time, I am glad that I managed to cover all the aspects including the demo in my session. I enjoyed delivering this session.

I had a gap of one hour between my sessions. I rebooted my MacBook Pro into Windows 7 partition and opened all the demos to cache them to avoid the delay. I thought I was all set for my Silverlight session till I walked to the podium to connect my machine to the projector. MacBook Pro comes with a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter and the moment I connected the adapter, to my horror, Windows 7 blue screened! I thought it is one of the rare instances and went about rebooting and I tried plugging the adapter again. Windows just kept crashing repeatedly. I had no option but to boot into my Mac OS X partition and I was planning to open the slide deck by accessing my NTFS partition. To my shock, I couldn’t even see the Bootcamp partition in the Finder! I remembered that I saved a version of the slide deck on my OS X partition and luckily I was able to open the deck. But all my demos were designed and developed on Expression Blend and Eclipse on Windows I didn’t even have the Eclipse Silverlight plugin installed on Mac. I managed to deliver my session through the slide deck and I opened few websites that had Silverlight RIA and media scenarios. I am thoroughly disappointed the way my machine behaved today! I have to check if this is an issue with Windows 7 or a known issue with Windows. I want to thank my audience for being so cooperative and supportive during my session. I hope to get an opportunity to show my demos that I have exclusively created for this event.
